Choose Faith, not fear

by on June 22, 2013

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. (Heb 11:8-10)

Faith is the opposite of fear. Faith is positive, fear is negative. Faith is casting all your cares and worries on God and trusting him to always be there for you no matter what, fear on the other hand is unbelief, telling God that you don’t trust him. Fear is believing the Devil, the father of all lies, that your situation is more than God can handle.

Let me give you some Scriptures from the bible to help you look at Faith for what it is.

Hebrews 13 :5 says ”Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ ”, Deuteronomy 31:6 says ”Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” still in Deuteronomy 31:8 God says ”The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

If God be for us, who can be against us? We know that God is not a man that he should lie. Thus if he says ”Fear not, I will never leave you nor forsake you” my friend, you better start rejoicing for your heavenly Father, the King of Kings, the Alpha and Omega who is always faithful, is with you.

Furthermore, the bible says in Psalms 37:23 that ”The steps of the righteous man are ordered by the Lord” Read what God says in Jeremiah 18:6; He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel.”

Brethren, listen to what God says in proverbs 3:5-6 and you will know you have no business being afraid: ”Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” More importantly we also know that everything works out for the good of those who love God (Romans 8:28).

Having established that God is always with us no matter what, why should we excercise fear instead of faith? Sometimes the challenge or situation may look too big or bad, but still trust God and remember that He will never let you be tested with more than you can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13) .

We as humans all have faith. How we exercise that faith is up to us, are we going to use it to believe in God or believe in the lies of the devil? Faith works powerfully either way, when you use your faith and believe that God will do something, He does it. On the other hand, when you fear that something bad is gonna happen or a bad situation is not gonna change, it also works according to your belief. Job said ”the thing that i feared most has happened to me”(Job 3:25)

Sometimes it may look like the situation is not gonna change or that God has not heard your prayer, for instance if you pray for an illness to go away or for a loved one to change and instead it looks like the situation got worse, dont budge, just laugh and keep on believing in God and have faith, because in the spirit world that problem has already been fixed, now it only has to take place in the physical also. Remember when Jesus cursed the fig tree? It didn’t die immediately in the physical world, but spiritually it was already dead (Mark 11:12-25)

The bible says without faith it is impossible to please God (Heb 11:6) and the righteous shall live by faith (Heb10:38), God is touched by our situation but not moved by our tears. The only thing that moves Him is our faith. Friends, always choose Faith over fear and you will see Gods purpose for your life manifested and you will become a blessing to the world just like Abraham.
